I seriously doubt that you can cite any example of where the President recommended anyone to take fish tank cleaner or its active ingredient chloroquine phosphate. The correct drug is chloroquine or, even better, the version hydroxychloroquine, preferably combined with azithromycin. THESE ARE NOT THE SAME THING. Not only did they not get the ingredient correct, but who takes something like that without knowing the correct amount or dosage? It's a sad and unfortunate story, but they really have no one to blame but themselves.

The article you cite, in spite of it being CNN, actually got most of the details right, although they sometimes mix up chloroquine with hydroxychloroquine. They quote his tweet as saying: "HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE & AZITHROMYCIN, taken together, have a real chance to be one of the biggest game changers in the history of medicine," he tweeted Saturday. According to the study in France, although a small study, this appears to be correct. But any adult should realize that you should consult a health care professional before taking it.
