I've been putting off a restoration of a 1975 AMC Gremiln X with a V8 for a few years now. Waiting for the right crop of chicks to dig it..... Might start in on it this spring.... Sitting in the garage with it are some old cases of Falstaff.... How long does that stay good? Got a Moody Blues 8-Track cued up waiting for a battery to get hooked up!

All you dawgs be jealous when it pulls up next to you!

I'm not sure I can break from my more current hobby though... Originally Posted by Whispers

LOL! I knew a guy years ago who had a few of these things. Cheap bastard ue to just buy one insurance policy and shift it to the one he was driving at the moment. Won't even talk about the parts house warranties he abused.

Here's my car that has become a project for me and my brother (hes the one who knows what he's doing lol), I know I'm def gonna lose money on it because I have already put in more money in it then I bought it for 2 years ago Lol next I want to paint it, hate the color but my brother won't let me do pink so thinking purple or black!!

I have one of these custom built with 303 4 speed no power anything but the top.

Ooh what color is that!!!!!!!
Cooper, sweet convertible!

Shayla, my dad can totally relate to your dilemma. He went through the same thing in wanting to perform a restoration of a '57 Chevy Bel Air.
Love old cars, my brother spends more time working on it then I do Lol I just pay for it and say what I want done and try to learn things I don't know how to do my self.

A friend in high school had one and it hauled ass!

"the V8 Gremlin was a poor-man's Corvette, able to spin its rear tires at will and outrun some larger, more expensive pony cars" and it was "the only real performance car available under $2,200."

1972 was the last of simi-high powered cars with only specialty vehicles crap as they were, getting real engines that had not been so de-tuned that they wouldn't break a get of E-78-14 tires loose.

The Gremlin was only seemed fast, it really wasn't
You couldn't keep up with even a de-tuned small block, Dodge Challenger, or even a Nova. Even my family car when I was a kid was faster and weighed 800lbs more.

1972 a Gremlin 304 two barrel V8 engine.Turning out 150 horsepower, the two barrel managed to go from 0-60 mph in 8.5 seconds. The quarter mile was dispatched in 16.8 seconds.2853 lbs

72
Nova
: Engine: 350
V8
200 bhp.:
1/4 mile
in 15.5 seconds @ 88.4 mph"

My Mother's (now mine) 67 Coronet 500 1.63 second faster at 3649 lbs0- 1/4mile (s):
15
speed at 1/4mile:
/ 93 mph

There are some fun things to know about them

The fastest production Gremlin was this one with a 402ci V8 Houston Police car

The Randall AMC approved tuner car 115.07 miles per hour (185 km/h) in 12.22 seconds

The mid 70's through the '80's were the worst of automotive history
