Barter Forum

I think it's a really good idea in theory but I could see things getting complicated if for example if a hobbyist wanted to trade something pretty expensive that would take more than...let's say about three sessions to pay off. At what point does the item in question become property of the provider? If he gives it too soon he risks her just taking it and not fufilling the entirety of her obligation, however if the provider fufills any part of the obligation BEFORE recieving the barter item she is in risk of giving a free session(s). I guess people's reputations would come into play a little here but is a reputation enough when you are risking large sums of money?

Things could get complicated.

Emily, you're right. Reputations and trust would certainly be relied upon. Some poeple may have airline miles or hotel points they could barter with. Or something else they have or can get at a discount. Maybe even a service they can offer that's needed.
sounds like the idea has already got quite a bit of intrest. now seeing how i'm a country gal i might not be much good at bartering, but can hold my own at old fashion horse tradeing, lol xoxo chelsea

I have bartered a few times for a GPS, cell phones, and especially laptops (contact me if interested in Dallas, lol). Most of the time it has worked out really well. When the item requires more than one session then there should probably be an understanding as to when the barter is to be fulfilled. Then there has to be preparation on how communication in reviews should occur both in the hobbyist receiving a service as well as the happiness of the provider for the product or service involved. Both should be able to review or alert when the deal did or did not work out.

I am for the barter forum.
