PROVIDER'S NEEDING HELP $

Ya I can see that when times are slow, but when times are good they can be really good. :-) Guess a gal just needs to find that economic equilibrium point.

Any of those discussions where guys try to estimate the earning potential of ladies has the potential to get very ugly. I can't tell you the number of times guys have quoted a woman's hourly rate as if she makes that each hour of an eight-hour day ("$300 per hour, that's $600k per year!"). A few months back I started a thread trying to tease out how many hours of work a provider needed to put in just to get that one-hour session.

She's not making her hourly rate when she is at the gym or the hairdresser or getting new photos taken. She is not making her hourly rate when she is working on her marketing plan, posting ads, answering e-mails. She is not making her hourly rate when she is checking into the hotel, setting up the room, getting ready, cleaning up, and packing up. She pays for her own supplies.

There's an old joke about an engineer who was hired as a consultant to fix a piece of machinery that was making a grinding noise. After a few minutes of inspecting the machine he drew a big "X" on the side and told the machine operator to bang that spot with a hammer. The operator hauled off and hit the "X" and the grinding noise stopped. The engineer gave the owner of the machine an invoice for $1000. The owner was upset: "How can you charge me $1000 for this? You were only here for 15 minutes and didn't even swing the hammer!" The engineer responded "I'm only charging you $20 for my time. The other $980 is for knowing where to hit."

Ya that's why my numbers are very conservative in the amounts of appt's just to illustrate the gross earning potential of working just a few hours a day. Originally Posted by royamcr

If you take one week a month off (and granted, most of us don't get a week a month off) you now make it 3.1 appointments per week, which is still three hours a week, give or take. Note, that is with one full week a month off. (divided by 40)

Indeed, given the original target of 40k, that's 5 appointments a week (for 40 weeks) to get to the median household income of the Wichita Statistical metro area (per capita is different than median household, of course).

NOTE, none of that figures in the per-hour generation of leads and general marketing, like... say... posting to ECCIE a lot ahem. But all businesses need advertising, most escorts are just not very good at it. Some are.

That's not accounting for business expenses like outfits (some dont bother or get clients to get them things), rooms (sometimes also covered), or other operational expenses, but it is also tax free income. Unless of course you launder your earnings... naughty naughty.

Especially in a place where Boeing is laying off a lot of folks and the overall economy is depressed, its no wonder why many women choose to engage in a profession that allows them to work at the wages of an educated consultant type, with nothing more than what the good lord, or their surgeon, etc... gave them. (which is also an operational expense if they go that route)

Much of this is covered in the wonderful book Freakonomics, which is fairly persuasive on becoming an escort the right way... I know law school and business school students on the east coast who escorted their way all through school. Of course, they took their professional careers in their hand to do so, but their payoff, which was CONSIDERABLE (one made more escorting than in her entry level law job) made it worth it. The business student only took varied appointments to upgrade her lifestyle. They were both more than 200 an hour girls, but its the coast.

*shrug* just an interesting point while we were discussing Escort Economics.

Here's the interview with Allie the Escort from the Freakonomics site:

http://www.freakonomics.com/2010/02/...our-questions/

if you're in the biz as a provider and haven't read Freakonomics...
Many people in entrepreneural endeavors are stretched thin in this economy and providers are no different and given the amount of expendable income available, they might be struggling too. Still, this is business. I've been duped and tricked too but with age and experience I learned the hard way to maintain healthy boundaries. A notarized loan agreement is always helpful and bartering is as ancient as the profession itself. If you've got money to spare and you feel charitable, do it. If you are expecting that your help will endear her to you, do fall for it. Say "no" and she'll move on to the next sucker.
Ya, I almost didn't say anything and thats why I tried to be careful and used the 12 weeks off per year, 1 - 2 appts per day for 5 days. No weekends. Then lets say she works every other weekend. I am sure the net is much lower, but still, the earning potential can be massive if she is good and has a great reputation.

All the other hairdresser stuff, manicures, pedicures, etc. she would probably do anyway.

Don't forget to pay Uncle Sam ladies, he doesn't accept BJ's in trade for tax payments. :-)

There's a saying In the south and maybe even a song that says "when you find a fool bump his head"... Not saying that you are a fool, but when a woman asks for advances or loans that's what comes to my mind. Especially a woman I don't really know much about.
