BCG, I partly agree, because I like both Rendezvous and the Bar-B-Q Shop on Madison. As far as Beale street goes.... go for the drinks, but the food is almost always better elsewhere in the city. Originally Posted by willro

[theadjack]Where have you been BCG, haven't seen you posting much in several weeks?[/threadjack] Originally Posted by willro

And a couple times recently I've been introducing out-of-towners to the joys of Memphis 'cue, and had to take them to Central because The Bar-B-Q Shop was closed.

My Great And Good Friend (a woman I was formerly romantically involved with, who is now no longer a romantic partner but still my best friend in these parts, for values of "these parts" = "Memphis to Hot Springs") insists that I have no right to state that The Bar-B-Q Shop is the best barbecue in Memphis until I've sampled both the Commissary and Interstate Barbecue. Since she lived in Memphis at least twice as long as I have (she went to the U of M back when it was still "Memphis State", and has spent much of the time since then toiling in the photojournalistic vineyards of the area), I'm not arguing with her. The Commissary's just so far out of my way that I'm having trouble finding reason to be out that far east, and while Interstate is closer, I'm told it's in a neighborhood I really don't want to be caught in after dark. Since during the workweek I have limited time during daylight hours and can't make it out there, I've been beset by scheduling issues, but I do intend to sample Interstate's cue before I die.

I also need to make it to Cozy Corner for the Cornish game hen, which I'm told is a religious experience. And Gus's (to get off the 'cue obsession for a minute). Definitely Gus's.
