How Important is Mother's Day (Father's Day)?

Mother's Day is precisely as important as your mother says it is.

I spend about half the day with my mother. My Dad passed away many years ago. I'm not a big one for false celebrations, so I don't much care what happens on father's day with regard to my kids. And then tend to concur. I don't make a big deal out of birthdays, etc. either.

I can't remember the last time I got flowers from my mom though - and that's more than likely because I put 0 stock in holidays. I love to give on them, but I almost never make a big deal out of receiving. I'd rather people spend their money on things that are important in the grand scheme of things, not a circle jerk of who can buy someone the best gift.
