The casinos. :)

4kings, but you pay it at the end of the year in Vegas.. Or you should. If you don't it can catch up to you. You sign for those winnings, they have your social and they give you a w-2g.

I have a diamond card at Caesars properties.. So I think I'll stick to taking an overnight trip to LA from time to time..

DallasFan - thanks for the heads up.. I was reading some of the board postings from over there.
Right -you still receive a W-2G, but LA gives you a W-2G for $1200 but only pays you $1128 (keeping $72 for state taxes). You then have to file a LA state tax return, even if you live in Texas, to try to get some of that $72 back. OK like Vegas would also give you the W-2G for $1200 but would pay you the full $1200.
If you are a Texas resident and win at a casino outside of Texas (well, let's include lottery since there are no casinos in Texas) do you not pay state taxes on that? There is no state tax in Texas, huh?

Just find jackpots that pay 1199 and no taxes.

I would recommend Louisiana over winstar any day, it's not a bad drive at all and I think you have better odds and will have more fun.
Louisiana it is!

I'm heading back to Vegas Sunday to clear out my storage.. So once I get back I'll have to plan a trip.

Thanks everyone for the input.

Texas does not have a state income tax, Alyssa. Unless you like slots, Texas hold 'em, video roulette and don't mind paying a "tithing" to play blackjack, you will be bored at Winstar.

Bossier/Shreveport is close to the Vegas "feel" and from my experiences at both, the winning odds are better at the Louisiana casinos.
Winstar blows and the service there is pitiful. Only good thing is the drive is closer to dfw than Shreveport. But Shreveport offers true gambling as in Vegas. No cards at the craps and roulette tables and no ante BS as seen in Oklahoma casinos. If you want the real deal, Shreveport it is!

I had a relative win $8200 not at once but with in 3 weeks, she was advise by her accountant to see if they had a log of her playing for 2013 since she uses her rewards card or whatever they call it Which they did and she was able to show she gambled enough not to pay taxes on it period.

A bit much with my story, but I'd pick Shrevport, but heard LE is hard over there too. OK is getting the same.

Sometimes I would rather not see it, but if I saw a yearly total back in my drinking days.. Well, that would have been much more sad.

I've been to both, and OK feels like I'm getting fucked every time. LA may be farther, but seems more like Vegas. Plus, I love craps.

If you are up for a drive to Lake Charles, I have done very well at L'Auberge. I am not sure on the escorting part but have done very well on the tables.
Thank you! Louisiana it is...
Craps is my game and I cannot stand when they use playing cards at a game.

Here is a link to that game:

Maybe we should all get together and make a party out of it since we all like the same thing, at the same place, in the same city.
