Prices of stuff are going up. I went to Target yesterday to buy the same items I have purchased before for many years with no change in their prices, I always get the exact same size and brand each time: shaving cream, razors, mouthwash, laundry detergent, bath soap, etc. The soap was $1.30 more, the mouthwash is $1.60 more, the laundry detergent is almost $2 higher since last time I bought them about a month ago. Even a Lays brand family size bag of regular potato chips has gone up by 41 cents and the weight is 1/2 oz lighter.Is all the talk from the guy in Washington about trade war with China driving up the prices of the items I listed? But those items can't be made in China, I don't think.

I know the cost of living has increased while salaries haven't really. Maybe that's part of it.

For me, one month is great, the next month is a 1/3 of my normal. I can't speak for other ladies, but my play time is limited now and, well I moved 7mins down 121. Not sure if any of that is a reason.

Summer is always slower.
Family vacays, kids out of school etc.

I actually have less free time to play during June,july,Aug BUT if I can slide in at least an hr of playtime in a day I'm happy!
One day can be a zero and the next I'm turning people down. You just never really know.

I also do well by offering way more than a "normal" sesh though

It's a marketing ploy. You feel sorry for them and fall for it. They may be absolutely fine financially but need you to break the bank. How would you ever know if they are really on hard times? Not being able to take that dream vacation is not hard times!!!

The summer slowdown is very real. Its harder for you guys to get away both time wise and financial wise with the kiddos home. There are more coeds out for the summer that are trying for a few extra dollars.

I'm at the point now where I only see a handful of regulars when in town, but even at that I have a couple that just can't mesh with my schedule because of summer travel.

When I was a full-timer, I could count on June and July being half what any other month of the year would be.

Summer is normally slower. Kids are out of school. Everyone is taking vacations. Normally for me, September is the worst! Everyone had to pay tuition, books\supplies, sports\extracurriculars, etc...

Ladies what would you consider to be hard times for you?

I agree with CREED. This is very interesting.

I think my follow up question to this thread would be...what do you ladies do to offset? The OP mentioned solicitations from some that ask for help, but do any of you change your strategies during the slow months?

when it slows down . You just have to save up before summer hit's or other times of the year as well when it's slower.
When you been self employed all your adult life like have , you learn how to keep you're Finances in better order .. As any JOB you have if self employed , save save ..
