Well, the democratic party is not one party per se. It is composed, as JL wrote, of several interest groups that collude to advance their agendas. Problems arise with two different groups have two opposing view points. Black people and Hispanic people are not especially happy with the gay rights crowd but they subordinate themselves to the gay mafia. Which brings me to this;

Your post doesn't mention the GOP OR the Tea Party. However it seems like you've acknowledged that the Tea Party IS in fact part of the GOP, simply by attacking the Democrats with a STRAWMAN argument.

There are really only two parties in this country. The Tea Party is the extreme of the GOP just like Al Sharpton is the extreme of the Democrats. JD and the Tea Party is the counterpart to Al Sharpton and his merry band.

I agree with you, it would do no good for the TP to split from the Republicans now--or maybe ever. Just as those other subsets of the Dems could not e ist on their own. You and I are really arguing the same side on this one.

It isn't a perfect political system but it is what we have evolved to. In essence it is not as different from the multi-party countries such as Italy, only in our case we have "built" the coalition of groups prior to the elections rather than trying to form coalition governments after an election.
