My question is, why was he still allowed to practice medicine after being convicted of paying for sex with drugs that he had access to due to his being a Doctor?

The number of doctors that should have had their medical practice pulled because of Medicare/Medicaid fraud or painkiller fraud is incredible. Until the last few years, it was very difficult for the Feds or the AMA to pull their license.
