Sociel hierarchy

Right now I suppose society would consider me at the bottom. Maybe I should do porn and catapult myself up the ladder (because it seems like they get rock star status). What do you guys think?

My experience is very much like roothead's. I was born into a lower class family, was the first to go to college (on a scholarship), and am now a 1%er that the media and politicians love to hate. I don't have an opulent lifestyle and I remain very close to my lower class roots and most people would never guess my financial status, and I prefer it that way. I guess because of my background I don't "judge" anybodies position on the social ladder and I relate better to the middle class, but I also make no apologies for what I have achieved. And I have to say you can find idiots and assholes on any rung of that ladder from top to bottom.
And I personally don't consider providers at the bottom of the social heirarchy.

No, it was not a typo.

This land belonged to the native Indians that lived here before the white man conquered them.

I believe that is why they are referred to as "Native".

The fact is that the native American Indians were simply not as sophisticated as the white man and their bows and arrows were no match for the guns and rifles that the European settlers had brought.

However, that is just the way that history has always been.

I don't necessarily agree with it, but might makes right in this imperfect world and the weak will be conquered by the strong.

Merely having wealth does not ipso facto give you high social standing.

. . . Mike Tyson, to cite an example, was a millionaire, but I doubt that anyone would say he was high on the social ladder

On a final note
, I would say that the only one person in the poll so far who has voted himself at the very top is a liar.

It is actually leaders of countries or CEOs of large corporations who are at the very top of the social hierarchy, but that is still really a very tenuous and very temporary position.

. . . Be careful what you wish for!

Political correctness will curtail meaningful dialog. Some at the top of the economic ladder are at the bottom of my respect ladder. I have more respect for Firemen, EMTs and Doctors than I do for Lawyers, Politicians or Atheletes. Speaking to providers, whatever situation brought you into providing, most of the guys respect you as a person. Sure there are guys who are just animals and seek power, but that is mostly because that is the only way they can justify their existance.

I know where you're coming from, but I believe you are referring more to hypocrisy than standing in a social hierarchy.

Firemen, EMTs, policemen and the like are emergency responders and so their interaction with people is more limited and physical in nature.

Politicians, lawyers, and lobbyists work more in the cerebral range and there is more extended time and more opportunity for hypocrisy.

However, when all is said and done, some people, are nevertheless higher on the social hierarchy than others.

. . . The question is where do you stand?

Our society does not give sex workers the credit and respect they deserve. It is a great way to have fun and get many new sexual experiences without a lot of personal issues.
It is a great service to all us guys.

I think peoples views on the "status" of sex workers varies dramatically, from close to admiration of famous porn stars, prostitutes turned authors and strippers to feeling sorry for drug addicts who are forced to walk the track by their pimps.

Except for porn stars, I would say that independent escorts like you are at the top on that provider scale, since you have chosen this line of work, but still control your life.

And about going into porn? Don't do it! We will miss you

Yes, but I make no apologies for that, Tiff.

With my scientific background it is my job and my love to quantify the world.

Is that really so bad?

. . . Most people today cannot even tell you what the diameter of the earth is!

Well, so you say now, but .

Are you quite certain about that?

. . . Seems like you were intent on closely measuring the, umh, "evidence" only recently!

It's not everyone's job to know the diameter of the earth. If it's yours, what a great job you have. What do you get out of this?
