Procrastinating on school...so tell me...

"A Christmas Story" hands down.

I find it very difficult to get excited as Christmas have become inordinately commercialized over my lifetime. What used to be a nice holiday is now a "retail season." Plus, I work up until the 22 or 23 and it's very hectic and busy.

But to answer the question, the three that I enjoy if I happen to see them while flipping through the channels are:

1. Grinch of Stole Christmas (original only)
2. It's a Wonderful Life
3. Charlie Brown Christmas

I'll pull out the Vince Guaraldi Trio Christmas CD and put it in the car the week before Christmas if I'm going to be on the road for more than an hour and listen to it for a few minutes if I have time, too.

The Bishops' Wife, White Christmas, The Grinch that Stole Christmas and Charlie Browns' Christmas. I also watch "It's a Wonderful Life".

Only thing I've not seen mentioned yet is the George C. Scott portrayal of Scrooge, which I'm partial towards. Although, after a few "proper" egg nogs I see Scrooge but hear Patton....

This Christmas thread reminded me of a story that my Mom would read to me when I was a little girl. I can remember at the time the book was very old. Maybe she had it when she was a little girl. The story was about a little girl who was very frail and sick. I think maybe she died on Christmas day. Does that story happen to ring a bell with any of you? I know that isn't much information but that's all I am able to remember.

A Christmas Story is absoeffinlutely the funniest, and The Santa Clause (the first one, NOT the sequels!) is touching without getting too sappy, but from my early childhood it has got to be the animated, original Grinch, 'cuz it has the bestest song ever - "You're a sly one, Mr. Grinch......"
