I'm a third generation classic pianist, grandmother actually majored in piano in college and taught piano for years, my father as well so I was forced to take lessons growing up, playing recitals and competitions as well, dual pianos with my father on the second piano. Although I resented my parents for the 2hr daily practices and recitals and am forever grateful for the exposure to classical music. My teacher was strictly classical in her teaching and I'll never forget the look on her face when I played her a Barry Manilow song, "oh Mandy..."....I learned on my own and she was horrified!!

Played flute for one year but quit because I got too dizzy
Played clarinet one year but the reed tickled my mouth and hated it
Played violin 2 yrs but hated the conductor so that was it
