I Miss The Good Ol' Days, Don't You?

I remember having to actually getting out of the chair to change the channel - choices were only ABC, CBS, NBC, and PBS...had to use the rabbit ears antennae to get reception. Actually had some good shows on. The televisions were tube (no circuit boards), thus were heavy and got hot. There were actually tv repairmen!

As for computer programming, you had to use punch cards!

best of all, candy was 1 or 2 or 5 cents. if it were 10 cents, you'd be a splurging mofo! Originally Posted by pmdelites

I was paying for a pizza at a Little Caesars (pizza! pizza!) once and the handed the kid at the register a 2 dollar bill. He held it up to the light...(looking for that strip that wasn't there (I don't think at that time)) and then said "wait a second." He went back to get his manager as he thought it was fake. The manager came out and he and I both giggled because the kid had never seen a 2$ bill before. He was told it's real.

That happened one time also when I handed a kid a Susan B. Anthony and told him "Now make sure you don't put that in with the quarters because that's a DOLLAR coin." He had to stare at it a bit as he'd never seen one and still put it in with the quarters. I said, "Duuuuuude....you're going to accidentally give that away as a quarter and then you'll be 75 cents short." He then put it to the side.

Hilarious, no?

I remember Party Lines, 5-digit dialing, and what a miracle it was when Ma Bell put a light in the princess phone. Damn!...I'm OLD!

Remember when gas wars meant that a gallon of gas sold for 19 cents. Used to be able to fill the tank for $2!
I remember before beer had pull-tabs, you had to have a "church key" to put those triangle-shaped holes in the top so you could drink it.
