Let's take both of those lies. How would the country be different had Presidents Bush and Obama told the truth? Would we be better off, or worse off?

Lying is not ok, it is just that we might as well admit to each other that all politicians do it. It isn't right, and they should pay some price. But healthcare for all is a laudable goal, and Obama lying about keeping terrible policies isn't a deal breaker. Perhaps slap him on the wrist and have him admit that not every cancelled policy should have been cancelled, but that the insurance companies saw their chance to increase their profits and blame the cancellation on Obama at the same time. I would say he should lie only to deceive our enemies in war and also high priority espionage against our enemies.
He should never lie to the American people on domestic issues, but if he lies to Republicans, I can forgive him, if he asks for forgiveness.
