Fights on Flights

So you have a problem with folks enforcing the rules? Not surprising! Plus your one of those lockdown and mask lovers. Thought youd be all for this! You know. To keep the rona from spreading. Originally Posted by winn dixie

Tick tock.

Yeah, I had a stash of old medical N95 masks coming into the pandemic. They were tight fitting as hell and left red marks on my face. Still, I wore them several times for 9 or 10 hours a day when traveling, along with my goggles, which were also annoying as hell, especially when I tried to read.

The thing now though is that you can get much more comfortable options. I've been wearing a KN95 mask lately, hours at a time when traveling, and it's not annoying at all. This is it, and it has FDA or CDC emergency approval,

https://www.amazon.com/Authorized-Re...1TB69S3SM21325

Not that anyone now will necessarily find that link useful. If you take COVID seriously you've been vaccinated by now, in which case you're pretty safe without a mask. And if you don't you're not interested in options for masks anyway. Originally Posted by Tiny

Now here we are over a year later and my health is every bit as good as yours, probably better and I didn't give up shit. lol

Doesn't the irony bug you at least a little bit? Personally I'd be pissed if I had given up a year of my life for nothing.

I did wear an N95 or KN95 mask and social distanced when I could. And precisely for that reason I felt semi-safe and I didn't have to give up shit. Well, any shit of consequence. You on the other hand did, as, unlike me, you quit traveling to Latin America.

And since you haven't gotten vaccinated, and since you're not wearing a mask, you're not home free if you do resume traveling to places like Colombia, where there are still lots of COVID infections.

And the reason I quit going to Latin America was because all my favorite playgrounds were locked up tight and there was no sense in going. I can get all the pussy I want right here at home, no reason to spend five hours or more on a plane just to be locked up in a hotel room for my entire stay. A buddy of mine lived for several years in Medellin, he got locked in his own apartment with his GF AND her parents for weeks only able to leave once a week to go shopping. Thanks but no thanks.

B. I practiced COVID safe sex. I wore a KN95 mask and googles, and we banged in reverse missionary position. That means my head's face down around where her feet are, and her head's around where my feet are, and I thrust backwards. I guess we could have done reverse cowgirl but I didn't think it was safe.

OK, B's a lie. Normally though I was careful, at least compared to my friends. It's a numbers game. You could get COVID if you wore a mask religiously, never ate an an indoor restaurant, didn't visit with friends unmasked, and social distanced, like a colleague of mine did. Or you could get it after being vaccinated. But if you exercised common sense most of the time, you significantly reduced your chances of getting the disease.

You posed the question earlier, why should I get the vaccine? Well, the faster this dies out, the quicker you can go back to banging Colombian women. And what's going to cause it to die out? When enough people get infected with COVID, die from COVID, and get vaccinated, we'll be through with this. And getting the vaccine is the best among those choices, and probably provides the most effective, longest lasting immunity, next to death by COVID. At some point you may not have an option. If you want to go to FKK's in Germany or bordellos in Barcelona this summer you'll probably have to produce evidence of a vaccination. Colombia may make the same requirement someday. From July 1, you can travel to Phuket, Thailand without quarantining if you're fully vaccinated. Bangkok won't be far behind.

From a Wall Street Journal article on the Indian variant,

William Haseltine, a pioneering scientist of cancer, HIV drugs and human genome projects, noted that in the pandemic flu a century ago, the first wave of the disease hit the elderly but then a second and worse wave came for the young.

“No matter where [the coronavirus] appears, there are many variants, and they are all different. They share some common properties, which include increased transmissibility, an increased age range and an increased disease in the young,” said Dr. Haseltine.

The B.1.617.2 variant went from 1% of Indian cases on March 3 to 85% on May 12. And now it's taken hold in the United Kingdom, where some estimates attribute 75% of cases to this and a second variant of Indian origin. This has resulted in a 20% increase in cases in the UK in the last week.

Actually the Indian variant, and other variants that will evolve, is a good argument for getting vaccinated regardless of whether you travel. The UK is very similar to the U.S. in terms of the percentage of the population that's been vaccinated or had the disease.
