You're right... a significant number are put on planes by the Feds and FLOWN directly into the US.... Originally Posted by texassapperSource, please.

JFC, if you are unaware of this, you need to catch up. Originally Posted by texassapper

As I’ve noted before, immigrants are driving the U.S. economic boom. That is: The United States has escaped recession, hiring growth has exceeded expectation, and inflation has cooled faster than predicted — all largely because immigration has boosted the size of the U.S. labor force. Don’t just take my word for it; ask the Federal Reserve chair or Wall Street economists.
As a result, all of the new job growth since the pandemic, on net, has been due to foreign-born workers. That is, if you stripped away immigrants, there would be no more people employed today than was the case before covid.
And, if current immigration trends continue — which they might not, depending who wins in November — immigration is likely to boost our fortunes in the years ahead: The Congressional Budget Office recently revised upward its 10-year gross domestic product projections by $7 trillion, attributing the increase to immigration-driven labor force growth. Our longer-term fiscal challenges also look better, since immigrants pay taxes and are much less likely than native-born Americans to (ever) qualify for benefits, including programs such as Medicare and Social Security.
Yet, somehow, the Trumpy right argues that greedy, freeloading immigrants are simultaneously stealing both our jobs and our precious tax dollars. In reality, they’re beefing up both.

New Bureau of Labor Statistics data shows that while 637,000 foreign-born workers joined the U.S. labor market in the last year, almost 300,000 native-born Americans fell out of the workforce.https://www.forbes.com/sites/jackkel...the-workforce/
so the great economy is really just great for foreigners... Originally Posted by texassapper

Some immigrants were turned away for various reasons. At that time in history America had a need to build it's labor force and the overall economy by accepting immigrants from Europe. Now there is no system there is no rhyme or reason. The present system is dysfunctional and will only congest the country with individuals that have no business being here.
One side of my family came here from Italy the decade or so before WW-I. My father's side of the family (just him alone) came here in the last years before WW-II. My Wife's father came from Venezuela in the 1920s when his father had business in the USA. My wife's maternal side came here in the 1600s when New York belonged to the Dutch. . . .they were the only folks to not go through the screening at Ellis Island. These folk all arrived in an above board fashion with full knowledge of he is controlling authorities.
WE do, as a Nation, need to have regular infusions of immigrants. But what we have today is an unregulated, uncontrolled and untracked influx of foreign nationals by the millions. Many of these people are considered undesirable in their homelands. Many of these people have exotic illnesses endemic to their home countries, but essentially unknown or rasr here. Some have skills and education that could contribute to our society, but the great majority do not. A significant proportion were career criminals at home and continue to prey on society here in the US. It is a sure thing tht among the unknown, untraceable millions who have entered the country since 2020, there are organized sleeper cells of terrorists or special operations folks waiting orders from their various controllers at home. And we can do things like that again. . . .but first we must close the border.
There are plenty of "newcomers" here already. So we will have suffucient time to work through how to revamp and imorove our overall systm of regulating immigration.
In the meantime, while the immigration system is being re-worked, we can begin to deal with those who are already here . . .just as they would have been at the Ellis Island in the past.
Their tavel documents will be reviewed. Anyone who has broken the law will be returned to their homeland. Those who have a valid passport and visa will be allowed to stay.. . . .just s it wass for our family members.
This does not need to be a hysterical mass roundup. We can work through the current millions as they come to the attention of the authorities. The first ones will be those who were habitual criminals in their home countries of course, as they continue to be criminals.
Others will com to light as they look for work or apply for social services and cannot prove they have legal status such as a work visa.
Eventually most will be returned to their place of origine where they can apply for the proper paperwork at an embssy or councilor office. . . .just as our ancestors did. Originally Posted by ICU 812
