Is it possible to connect what China is demanding of social media platforms with censorship of conservative sites in the states? Possibly, but who knows?

I think it is probably a case of the slippery slope... once you abandon your principles the first time, it becomes easier to do it again and again. It's entirely possible some idiot at Google or Facebook will soon shoot off a pro-censorship email to his bosses saying "No biggie! We're already doing it in China! Banning voices we don't like is cool!" Then you can hire a good lawyer who will find that email in discovery and connect the dots.
