If 100 people are on a plane. One person is infected and 99 aren’t to start. If everyone wears a mask except the infected person, how many will be infected after the flight. If only the infected person wears a mask, how many would be infected after the flight. Just curious what people think. I don’t have the answer. Originally Posted by Silver Bullet

To the point of your question, it's likely that masks are not the determining factor (unless you happen to be seated near an infected person who is sneezing or coughing his/her head off). It's more likely the surfaces you touch, so wash your hands a lot and make liberal use of hand sanitizer.

What most people don't realize is that airplanes have very effective ventilation systems. They are designed with vertical airflow that enters near the ceiling and exits near the floor (just like manufacturing "clean rooms"). They have very effective HEPA filters that can filter out contaminants including bacteria, viruses, and droplets exhaled by people, down to sub-micron levels, and they change out the cabin air every two or three minutes. So the cabin air is not likely a danger to you unless you're directly affected by an infected person.

'tiny tyrants' is a good description of the DPST marxists who want to control everyone around them into Orwellian dystopia - their version of 'AOC socialist paradise" - dissenters get concentration camps.

Fools and lemmings.

ta is correct - the fiden tyrants allow infected illegals freely into America - yet want total control with two masks and lockdowns everywhere - while their agents from Mexico and S america spread infectious diseases among taxpaying Americans.

Wearing a mask provides limited protection to the wearer. It provides GREATER protection to those who are around the wearer. While it provides some protection agains incoming virus, a mask is best at avoiding the wearer aerosolizing virus that will make others sick. Think coughing, breathing sneezing, etc. And even if you haven't had symptoms, you could easily be an asymtomatic carrier.

In short, I wear a mask to protect you, you wear a mask to protect me.

So<yeah, I can, and still do wear a mask. But it mostly keeps me from coughing up small fluid particles that will aerosolize and infect you. But if you and I both wear a mask, both you substantially reduce the amount of virus we aerosolize, and if there is any residual not caught gy the outgoing mask, maybe the ingoing mask can stop it.

But you know that. It’s been established for months. Y’all are just pricks who wallow in sadism and get your jollies from putting innocent people at risk of illness.

Abbot was quick to be one of the first to reopen his state after the national shutdown. We saw daily new case rates in Dallas county go from about 250/day to a peak this Winter of 2500/day. Daily cases are coming down now to about 350/day due to the fact people have been required to wear masks, seasonal factors and getting past holiday mingling. In Texas, "management" of the virus has always been about ICU and hospital capacity, not saving human lives.

The argument to ease restrictions is based on the seasonal change (this virus thrives in the Fall and Winter,) pressure from business lobbyists and the fact that vaccines will be more readily available in the near future; however, it appears that the state (particularly Dallas county) is doing a poor job of vaccinating residents. The link below is from Dallas county. It shows that since January 15th only 90,000 residents have been vaccinated (Dallas county has 2.6 million residents.) Only 42,000 residents over 65 have received the shot. The remainder are likely first responders and those under 65 with comoralities. At this point not even 1 out of 26 residents have been vaccinated.

It does make sense that we could maybe start to relax some of the restrictions in the future once the majority of the county has been vaccinated, but Abbot is clearly premature here as he was in the Summer when he choose to reopen initiating a huge wave of cases. At one point in the Fall TX had more cases than CA and the CA population is 33% larger than Texas (40 million vs 30 million.)

I prefer to look at facts, not politics and the facts say this is a poor decision. Reference the link below to track daily cases, number of residents vaccinated, etc. We will start to see daily cases increase about a month after dropping the mask mandate.

I did a little further research to determine if my assessment of vaccinations in Texas was accurate and here is what I found.....

Texas ranks 46th out of 50 states vaccinating residents with at least one dose at 15.8%

Texas ranks 48th out of 50 vaccinating residents with two doses at 8.4%.

Dallas county is under performing the state by a HUGE margin vaccinating only 4% of the county population. Your tax dollars hard at work!

Prediction , the Covid rate are going to go up in Texas the LSM will blame the gov , not the 1 in 4 illegals entering
The ranking means nothing , most people I talk to don't want the vax or are going to wait
From the articles I'm reading, the positive rates among the immigrants are on par or lower than the state's average. So it's not a massive spike coming in from Mexico. Also, Biden has offered federal funds to help with the testings and quarantine, but Abbot refused it.
