Bernie is a Socialist in the European Social Democrat sense of the word, as has he himself has pointed out many times. God knows that we could use a bit of that now. He's the one guy in the Senate who has consistently stood up to Obama and called him out for being way too centrist.

Even better:

Usually, the ONLY one who can get a reaction out out of me is my ATF. But I am getting some serious wood just thinking about MB downing my dong.

I am with Little Stevie on Mr B. Usually, the ones who gripe, and complain, so much about others lifestyles are the ones tapping their foot in the Airport Bathroom.

Wasn't NAZI the National Socialist Party and wasn't it the part of Europe that dominated the countries mentioned in the article. Those countries are relatively new in the grand scheme of things since WWII. Saying that they have been operating under socialism for a long time does those countries a diservice and it's intellectually dishonest to believe they are better off within several decades.

Germany invaded Poland in 1939. In April 1940 they struck against Denmark and Norway. In May of the same year Hitler sent German forces into France. In February 1941 they went into Libya and on to Egypt, also in 1941 they invaded Yugoslavia. Germany invaded the Soviet Union in June 1941. By late 1941, Germany and her allies controlled almost all of mainland and Baltic Europe with the exception of neutral countries (though Spain and Portugal were debated) (source, other source)

Take Denmark for example; the socialist party took over in 2000. The Manifesto for a Socialist Denmark was adopted as the general programme of the Workers’ Communist Party of Denmark (APK) at its Founding Congress, held in Copenhagen from the 20th to the 23rd of April 2000 (source)

Socialist governments aren't immune from greed and when they run out of the peoples money and can no longer take care of it's citizenry, the people will revolt and the unthinkable will happen AGAIN. Think Mao, think Stalin, think Pol Pot, et.al.

You are an idiot if you think socialism will ever work. It will fail again, because of man and greed. That is why governments need to be restrained by a rule of law, i.e. Constitution of the United States. When they begin to exclude themselves from the laws they force on their "subjects," they become tyrants, not constituent representatives.

Well, the UK has Socialist Democratic government under Tony Blair for about ten years and seemed to do just fine. Same with France under Mitterand. Same here in the U.S. under Clinton. But if you liked the Bush years better, then the far right wing nuts that are running in the Republican primary should suit you just fine.

As far as whether the U.S. would support a far left candidate, who knows. We've never really tried one. Henry Wallace running in 1948 and Eugene Debs running four times just after the turn of the century was as close as we've come to finding out. None has ever run on a major party ticket.

Mrs Perry at Enron . . . the media will expose any misconduct. That is one good thing of the 24/7 news industry.

The bottom paragraph, I think, sums it up fairly well. It appears her idea of intigration is division. Her identity as an US citizen is secondary and shows in her statements "further integration and/or assimilation into a white cultural and social structure that will only allow me to remain on the periphery of society; never becoming a full participant" and "For the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country."

If she hasn't succeeded or is on the "periphery of society" where others can only dream of going, then there is no real success in this country, but true division and idiological dogma.

Just under 90 alums responded to the questionnaires (for a response rate of approximately 22 percent) and the conclusions were not what she expected. "I hoped that these findings would help me conclude that despite the high degree of identification with whites as a result of the educational and occupational path that black Princeton alumni follow, the alumni would still maintain a certain level of identification with the black community. However, these findings do not support this possibility."

Britain's doing fine?
Near bankrupt, mass social unrest, islamic intifada underway
France doing fine?
Near bankrupt, mass social unrest, islamic uprisings
Spain; you know the one obama points to as
a model for a future US: broke, double digit unemp,
rising islamic undercurrent

Where does this concept of 'fine' come from?
The bowels of the FSB or Al Queda?

Hockeypuck european nations could get away
with their soul stealing govt handouts. With the US
providing regional and strategic security, what
point is it for finland, norway, denmark to field
a 10 division army? intercontinental bomber wings?
8 carrier groups? Other than for me toism it's
not critical.

Be mindful that the populations of most of these
pipsqueak nations could fit in the Galleria II's parking lot.
Benefits for a few dozen million are way different
than trying to apply the same system to a few hundred million.

Socialism caused the outright murder of over 100,000,000
in the last century. Deaths from socialist beauracracies
are running a death toll over 25 million from the last
century and still rolling.

You want to end world hunger and general poverty?
Eradicate socialists with the same verve as gangs
are hunted and broken up.
Thou shalt not steal.....
