Trump says he’s ‘not allowed’ to say why he’s confident that the novel coronavirus originated at Wuhan Institute of Virology

That's strange Trump usually speaks his mind on everything else, but not about the origin of the Virus. I wonder what Chinese Virologists were doing in that Lab that Trump can't talk about. Originally Posted by Levianon17

When asked what gives him confidence that the Wuhan Institute of Virology is where the virus originated, Trump demurred.
“I’m not allowed to tell you that,” he said. Originally Posted by Jaxson66

Remember the weapons of mass destruction the Bush administration used to justify the second Iraq war? I think this is the same thing. My bet is that Trump is pushing intelligence agencies to fabricate some evidence, so he can beat up on China. He kills two birds with one stone. First, he's obsessed with the Chinese threat. Second, it helps his re-election chances. The majority of people disapprove of his response to the coronavirus crisis, so if people blame it all on China it takes some heat off of him. He becomes a war time president instead of someone presiding over an economic collapse and, in some peoples' view, a health care failure.

To be clear, I believe he wants an economic war on China, not a real one.

And trump was beating up on china well before the virus exploded. In fact he was already beating them up during the 2016 campaign. No need to "fabricate some evidence" when you can point to a $350 billion trade deficit.

i was at a c-store just an hour ago and chatted up the cashier about all this, yeah he was wearing a mask but for him if he's got to stand there all day yeah i probably would too. but i otherwise don't wear one and won't bother. i mentioned Pelosi saying "come to Chinatown!" in February. he remembers it. Cuomo did the same thing in NYC. Trump will run ad's of Pelosi saying that, it's on video. it'll make a great campaign ad when the Dems try to blame Trump for his response.

why here she is giving Trump a campaign ad!

OK, fabricate is too strong a word, but the Iraq analogy is reasonable if this story is anywhere close to true:

the origin from a lab accident has not been ruled out.

and CNN is not your friend for objective news.

Chinese lab conducted extensive research on deadly bat viruses, but there is no evidence of accidental release

On Thursday, the U.S. intelligence community released an assessment formally concluding that the virus behind the coronavirus pandemic originated in China. While asserting that the pathogen was not man-made or genetically altered, the statement pointedly declined to rule out the possibility that the virus had escaped from the complex of laboratories in Wuhan that has been at the forefront of global research into bat-borne viruses linked to multiple epidemics over the past decade.

“The IC will continue to rigorously examine emerging information and intelligence to determine whether the outbreak began through contact with infected animals or if it was the result of an accident at a laboratory in Wuhan,” the Office of the Director of National Intelligence said, using a common initialism for the U.S. intelligence community.

Yet, despite the intense scrutiny, the novel coronavirus’s origins remain as murky now as they did when the first cases emerged in China five months ago. While intelligence analysts and many scientists see the lab-as-origin theory as technically possible, no direct evidence has emerged suggesting that the coronavirus escaped from Wuhan’s research facilities. Many scientists argue that the evidence tilts firmly toward a natural transmission: a still-unknown interaction in late fall that allowed the virus to jump from a bat or another animal to a human.

It’s far more likely that Mother Nature is just a step ahead of us and has created a novel pathogen, now able to move quite effectively from human to human,” said Jason Rao, a biosecurity specialist, former senior policy adviser to President Barack Obama and executive director of Health Security Partners, a D.C.-based nonprofit organization focused on global biological threat reduction.

But the conspiracy theories continue by Brietbart, Levin, Fox opinion network, The Lancet, Daily mail, Steve Bannon, Bill Gertz, OANN and last but certainly not least QAnon who claim Hillary and Chelsea Clinton are involved in a Vaccine scandal...All hail the great leader, 62k dead and counting.
