Jackie the fifth amendment was written over 200 years ago. The courts have changed the meaning. A key thing is that prior to the 1960s you did not have your rights read to you. Miranda changed all that. What constitutes what has become very specific. If you want to invoke the fifth amendment then you say nothing about anything. You shut up! Otherwise you may be talking about something that you think is benign and accidentally let it out that you have a place you hide your gun (which happens to be the murder weapon that you used).
