HEY TRENDY, THE TEA PARTY IS "TRENDING" LOSER ONCE AGAIN

JD Barleycorn's Avatar
Yes, the Tea Party candidate lost....barely. Notice I said Tea Party and not Republican. What does that say? That a potential third party underfunded by 14 million dollars with a democratic funded libertarian plant lost by 1% to a major party candidate. If I were the democrats I wouldn't celebrate too much. If there had been no libertarian with democratic money, and the full support of the GOP McCaulliffe the fixer would have gone down by double digits.

Imagine it this way, a high school football team loses a game to a big name Texas college by a field goal. The college coach would have his team's collective asses for being such pussies.
That is right! !!

The GOP (national) was nowhere to be found in this race. In past races they provided Virginia governorship candidates to the tune of $10 million....not a dime was spent by GOP national in this race. For McAuliffe to outspend Cucinelli by 10 to 1 and win by under 2% speaks to how weak of a candidate McAuliffe was.

There is a war going on within the GOP between it's national platform and it's base (the Tea Party); the GOP leadership is playing a dangerous game........they won't be able to win many races without their base.

If you want to understand more, listen to this interesting radio piece from yesterday:

No candidate is entitled to a person's vote. The reason Cuccinelli lost was not because of the Libertarian, he lost because more people voted for McAuliffe. If the Republicans can't win an election, maybe they should reject big government statism. Then they might win votes away from the Libertarians. Originally Posted by CuteOldGuy

Gov. Bill Bolling, with whom Marcus campaigned, did not win the GOP nominee in Virginia.

“I was looking at the candidates, and I saw Terry McAuliffe as the guy who will work with everybody to get things done,” Marcus told the Associated Press in August when he joined McAuliffe’s campaign.

The facts of Cuccinelli's loss:

Here they are:

  • The Republican National Committee spent three times as much in 2009 on the same race as they did this year.

  • The Chamber of Commerce spent one million dollars in the last Governor’s race, and not one dime on Cuccinelli.

  • While it’s often claimed that Tea Party candidates do poorly among independents, Cuccinelli actually won independents by 9 points, 47 percent to 38 percent.

  • “McAuliffe outraised Cuccinelli by almost $15 million,” and in the last weeks of the campaign, this left Cuccinelli with nearly no media exposure.

  • Even Politico wonders if Cuccinelli was beginning to turn the tide against the “War on Women” narrative, as he drove down McAuliffe’s lead among women from 24% in polling to 9%.
If the Republican establishment had thought it important enough to carry Virginia into the “R” column instead of using the loss as a cudgel to beat the grassroots Tea Party insurgent movement, perhaps it would have devoted more resources towards winning this crucial election.

The Republican Governor's Association (headed up by President wannabe Jindal) refused to give money directly to the Cucinelli campaign - The Democrat GA gave over $6 million to the McAuliffe campaign. Instead, the RGA threw their financial support behind Christi in NJ; an incumbent who didn't need the help and won by 17 points !

And note that Christi refused to campaign for Cuccinelli in Virginia !

Like I said, a war (Beltway GOP vs grassroots base) is brewing in the GOP; and it will bite them in the ass if they don't support their base !

So you're saying this was really the GOP flexing it's muscles over the Tea Party, eh, Girlyturd? A coordinated plot to keep the rising tide of Teawipism under control?

Makes perfect sense.

No matter how you boys try to spin this one, you still lost another key state and the angry white boys club is losing it's grip over the nation.

Thank God!

If Cucinelli had been a walk on pitcher try out and struck out most of the line up of the Yankees but still gave up a home run or two the scouts would be following him.
The GOP didn't lose the statehouse dummy.......

The Governorship is currently in Democrat column and the Virginia General Assembly is Republican; no change, status quo.

But this could have been a pick up for the GOP (and Tea Party), had the GOP leadership played to win.

Just checking.
I am not here to educate you AssUP.....

If you can't understand the clear difference, I could care less.

The GOP didn't lose the Virginia Statehouse as you claimed !

No, it LOST a race it should have won, based on your analysis (yep, you peed your pants again, Girluturd.)!

The seat didn't change parties, but it was an OPEN seat. Which means they LOST it.

According you, the GOP sacrificed Cucinelli to send a message to that pesky Tea Party that thy would rather have a Democrat than a Republican.

You're a fine mentor Girlyturd! A fine mentor.

I get a kick out of the tantrums you throw whenever your candidates get punked by truth, justice and the american people!

WAAAAHHHH! WAAAHHHH, WAAAHHH!

We can also thank that dipshit "Libetarian" for pulling away votes from the Conservative Candidate.

That, and the Republicans, or ANYBODY besides a Democrat, need to get the fuck off of this Religion and Abortion shit. Make the elections about the one thing that counts in this Country, money, and allowing hard working people to keep more of theirs.

I think it was said best that The Democrats ran the ONLY candidate that the Republicans could beat, but then the Republicans ran the ONLY candidate that the Dems could beat.

Partly right; but mostly wrong......

McAuliffe could have been beat; had the national GOP helped out.

Cuccinelli was not picked by the national GOP to run; he was picked by the citizens of Virginia. The GOP should have backed up his campaign. Instead, they opted to sit it out.

The blame for the loss is on the national GOP leadership. NOT the voters of Virginia who nominated Cuccinelli.

Cuccinelli didn't lose because he was a social conservative; he lost because he didn't have the financial support of the national GOP campaign organization.
