Here is the Type of Guy We Execute in Texas

You are right, it is very resource depleting, and it should be used sparingly. Opinions are mixed on its deterrent effect. A guy like this, it at least stops him from killing again - which he professes a desire to do! Originally Posted by Jewish Lawyer

I personally think that if we run out of the drugs to perform the executions that we contact the nearest vet and obtain the same thing they use to put animals down.
Hang them, shoot them, gas them, fry them, really what ever cost the least.
But then again, I would do the same for a thief.

Kant never believed the death penalty was a deterrent and never advanced that as an argument. It is the correct punishment.

Kant also talked about the absence of a perfect system. He used the phrase "self evident". Some things are so self evident that you are in no danger of executing the wrong person. So it is not the punishment, it is the systematic application. I have written that the authories should face the same penalty that they have imposed if it is found that they violated the law to get an conviction (hiding evidence, manufacturing evidence, systematic lying to the jury, etc.)

I guess we all should have known you'd punch REPLY before you bothered to read the piece he linked.

(For the record: The headline on the piece is "Richardson man who killed 2 truckers in Central Expressway shootings set for execution Wednesday". (Emphasis added, no charge.) Kinda says it right there, in big bold type...)

I pointed that out back in post #9. Are you ever capable of learning anything?

And you teach at the college level? What an embarrassment.

Don't have a problem with prison for life in conditions like the AZ sheriff upholds (can't remember his name); however, I'm not a proponent of the death penalty for anybody. Originally Posted by txrancher1
