Irondale is not much better. Just about all of North Birmingham is a rough area (to put it mildly).

If you just have to stay on the north side of Bham, go to Trussville. Stay around the shopping complex north of I459 on Hwy 11, or just off the Trussville exit on I59.

Airport area is the slums. If you staying in that area everyone knows you are an escort or crackhead (but there is a hot club over there called the Airport lounge if you like a good "hole in the wall"). Irondale is safe. Eastwood is a little more sketchy...........
