doh... it never occurred to me that PA has 2 football teams. eagles and steelers. for some reason I never made the connection.

Somehow the Pittsburgh Pirates came up with one of the jewels in baseball when they had Roberto Clemente.

I knew california, NY, Florida have multiple teams, not PA go figure.


California was the first state to have 3 teams, now reduced to two. NY has 2 (technically its 1 since one of the teams play in new joisey), Texas has 2 and Florida has 3.


There's more - in 1943, the NFL pro football season was trimmed due to WW2. Pittsburgh and Philly pooled their available players into a single team called the "Steagles".
