Robin Williams Died

I read he was also suffering from depression lately. Tragic news; he will be missed.

Some of the best tv ever was at the end of the Mork and Mindy show. Williams was doing an interview and Jonathon Winters appeared about 2/3 of the way thru the interview. It was game on ... the one up manship of comic genius was a sight. The interviewer just gave up and sat back and enjoyed the ride.

He will be very missed. Wonderful actor and person. My favorite movie of his was Mr. Doubtfire.

If you're younger than, say, 45 years old, you may not be able to appreciate the huge impact this man had on comedy when he hit the scene. His improv skills in his prime were simply amazing. Every appearance was must-see TV. As goofy as Mork & Mindy was, his skills were so apparent that it was easy to fight through the lame story lines just to experience his lunacy.

He was one of the true comedic geniuses, and I long thought he burned too bright to last long in this world. I'm thankful we had him for as many years as we did. Originally Posted by TinMan

He will forever be Peter Pan to me.

I forgave him for the Mork & Mindy shit when he did The Birdcage, Dead Poet's Society, Good Will Hunting.

Popeye. Doubt anyone else could have pulled that off but him.
A lot of his movie lines were on-the-spot ad-libs, like when he was sent home on the bus in Good Morning Vietnam cutting it up with soldiers.

He was millions in debt (ex-wives). Also, he has 4 movies coming out. He was also trying to sell a vineyard he owned to raise money.

I can just imagine the fight over his estate. Actually I can't.

I have not cried over another celebrity since Michael Jackson died - this is honestly upsetting and tragic.

In fact, I was watching one of my all-time favorite movies (and novel), What dreams may come just a couple of days ago.



Now, after reading on some news reports that stated that Williams was battling depression/addiction, it makes me wonder if his experiences compelled him to take on the role of Chris - A man who loses his children, wife, and then later, his own life.

Nevertheless, William's death shows light upon the reality, and struggle of depression. For a man to have shown so much laughter, creativity, and joy, there was a painful & dark void that he allowed to conquer his life.

So sad. So tragic. Just, Damn!

It's so hard to put into words the feeling (shock....disbelief....sorrow? ) I don't know....it's such a sadness....such a tragic loss.

Thank you for the smiles...the laughter you gave us, Robin. May you Rest in Peace for all time.....

Never cared for his stand-up. Actually, I didn't like it at all. But it did help create the dynamic that made me appreciate his acting even more in his serious roles. Dead Poets Society? Good Will Hunting? Insomnia? One Hour Photo? The dude was fucking awesome in dramatic roles.

Robin and Jonathan Winters, Richard Pryor and Andy Kaufman and George Carlin and Bill Hicks. the guy upstairs must be spitting out his coffee a lot these days.
