So was Richard Burton a complete jerk?

The love affair of Burton and Taylor was destructive, creative and passionate. A true amour fou ! Not meant for "real life" and 24/7. Too bad both of them were alcoholics. I read somewhere Liz Taylor still "talked" with him after he died, imagining his answers. I admired both of them somehow.
As to him being an asshole, well, that is subject of interpretation and all biographies are "biased" to portray a certain element. It depends what the use of a biography was, the ones you read.

Oh, about the title of my topic. Was Burton a jerk?

In my readings, Sir Richard Burton could be (guess that he had to be) a complete asshole and didn't treat women well. He was a man of his time.

But he was sensual, possibly with homosexual tendencies, and was able to speak over 25 languages. He was really an icon and so interesting.

He actually brought the sensual readings of India and the far East, as mentioned above, to Europe.

Such a fascinating man. I would agree. James Bond has nothing on this man.

But was he a jerk? Was the actor poorly behaved at times? I would think that answer to both is yes.

I'm oversimplifying this response, I know.

I'm confused. Is the question: "Was Burton a jerk" or "Did Burton get jerked off"?
