Manchin's approval would not change by more than 1-2 % points. He would look flaky if he switched.

I saw a report where he was talking to Biden and would agree to BBB if the Trump tax cuts are rolled back and they take the tax break for wealthy homeowners in mostly Democrat states out of the BBB Originally Posted by WTF

Speaking during a radio station interview in his home state of West Virginia, Manchin offered a blueprint to Biden and other Democratic leaders to potentially revive a narrow version of the tax-and-spending bill when Congress returns in January. He said the legislation should go through Senate committees in order to examine its economic effect and focus on rolling back the 2017 Trump tax cuts.

He represents a state that has a lot of powerful unions. Union workers tend to lean towards the democratic party because of benefits. He is not switching parties and I bet he gives in to what he initially declined if he wants to be reelected in that state... that's just my opinion for what little it's worth like everyone else's. And sorry if that has been already mentioned because I haven't read all of the posts in this thread.
Think the people who supported him would change ever so slightly in demographics and support levels would be about the same...but you know the DNC will pump an insane amount of money into the coffers of his Democrat opponent when he is up for re-election, to try to make an example of him.

With all that said, he is one of the last of the "blue dog" Democrats, and I don't see him jumping parties. Ideologically, he doesn't have that much crossover with the GOP.
