Playboy Magazine - No more centerfolds?

As do I.

Perhaps a bit off-topic, Elisabeth, and not to disparage your comments about the articles: Remember when Playboy used to include a self-promotion ad with the caption, "What sort of man reads Playboy"? Typically featured some well-groomed, strapping young dude, dressed in a tweed jacket, standing next to a Corvette and a well-endowed, admiring blonde.

When I was in college, National Lampoon magazine did a spoof of "What sort of man reads Playboy": this page, however, featured an exterior view of men's room toilet stall. Inside the stall, on the floor, was a Playboy with the centerfold stretched full-length. And dangling above it: A pair of grubby tennis shoes! Originally Posted by Bush Pilot

Don't MOST men wear tennis shoes?

It was a fantasy, just like the 'Man who reads Playboy'. More likely a bunch of horny teenagers who also read Swank, Juggs and Screw for the real world stuff. I read Playboy, but never followed the Playboy advisor, I'd be in jail by now.
Larry Flint, as much a 'hick' as we might have thought of him, branched out in other magazines. Pick up a copy of Womens World and inside the cover you'll find.
Printed by Flint Publications.

When the market for men's magazines softened in the late 1990s, LFP expanded into production of adult videos through its Hustler Video subsidiary, and moved further into the mainstream publishing market. To accommodate this expansion, the company moved its headquarters to Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills, California, where it remains to this day. It launched a series of special-interest magazines, such as Camera & Darkroom Photography, PC Laptop Computers and Maternity Fashion & Beauty.[8]" - Wikipedia

From what I've been reading about the subject, it seems if Playboy wishes to position itself as a magazine on the same level as Vanity Fair, or Esquire.

Playboy was, for me, all about the articles. Seriously. The magazine had (I haven't read it in a long time but not that long) really smart writing. Clever.

And the cartoons over the years were epic. I have that collection somewhere on my bookshelves.

Anyway ... it's an interesting plan to update an iconic publication. I sincerely hope that it works!!! Originally Posted by ElisabethWhispers

By no means am I a world class photographer, but it's been an area of study, fascination and play for me for over thirty years. For over half that time I've learned a hell of a lot about photoshop and shot a lot of digital. BUT, to me, film still rules. I know when I get it just right, shoot and scan a 4x5 negative, the results just make my D300 seem obsolete, even a well exposed medium format negative looks better to me.

But I'm guessing the commercial magazine digital printing technology today might not carry that same look and "feel" through to the end product?
