There were a myriad of issues when it was tried in Houston so it was ultimately pulled and most likely won't be returning.

Much of it was due to many of the girls abusing it by not following the rules with either post frequency, format, or content. Some of the problems were honestly due to said rules changing over time with less than perfect communication by mods. In addition you'd get trolls cluttering it up with random comments. In the end it turned into a huge headache for mods to maintain.

I'm a mod in Austin also and, believe me, it's barely better there. It requires daily edits, often multiples...and that's a small market compared to here.

It might work reasonably fine in small communities where it's possible for them to "police" themselves better or the number of posts are so low that it's easy to maintain but in larger and more diverse markets they don't work as well. What Spice said is correct. I was the originator of that project, as I was with the Houston Newbie-Friendly Provider List. It was an experiment, and with any "let's try it" endeavor, not all are successful. The HNFPL has turned out much better (but not without trial and error) as it is JUST a list, the content of which I update once a week. I have reasonable editorial control, within the guidelines of ECCIE and not being a mod, of course.

By the way, nothing will EVER forestall troll comments in ECCIE forums. They are part of the site's enduring entertainment.

A short-notice thread might (BIG question mark) operate more smoothly now. Most of the abusers are no longer with ECCIE, plus the complexity of running such is better understood. However, it would have to be maintained under the following conditions:

1. The thread's rules would have to be set and clearly explained from the get-go to avoid constant fiddling and misinterpretation, and those standards would have to be frequently repeated for emphasis, as I do weekly with the HNFPL.
2. A limited number of persons would have to take responsibility for the thread. Ideally a 2-person partnership would promote consistency and not miscommunication.
3. At least one of the monitors would, by necessity, be a mod to delete violations and boot offenders, but the other could just be an "editorial assistant" who keeps the thread moving and posts any updates and reminders as needed.

As Spice stated, it is something that would require daily supervision, and who wants to take THAT on in addition to the normal herding of the sheep, goats, and wolves?
