Corner Cafe in Riverside for American Comfort food.

Italian - Salvatores on 40 HWY in Independence
Mexican - El Fogon, 104 and Metcalf in Overland Park
Chicken - Strouds (or Go Chicken Go if you are looking for a fast option)
Burgers - Town Topic
Pizza - Grinders

Best Italian - Bella Napoli in Brookside
Best Sushi - Nara in Crossroads
Best Chinese - Dragon Inn in Old Overland Park
Best Greasy Spoon - Town Topic on Broadway off SW Blvd.

Pizza - Moretinas CAddy Shack on 3rd.
Best bang for the buck pizza - the $7.99 Monday night take and bake special at the Price Rite on Waukomis. Also one stop shopping for booze, feed and seed.

A lot depends on what part of town you are staying in. I am guessing downtown or mid town?
Italian : Lydia's is expensive! I have never even been there!
In Independence (I think) is V's. Get the famous cake! Actually it comes with the meals
Anthony's on Grand. Like olt time mafia style. Its amazing..and cheap lunch specials
Overland park: Johnny Cascones. Another step back in time
Chinese places are everywhere. Get delivery. Or cheap lunch specials
Mexican: southwest Blvd any of the places there. Cheap too. Overland park has Tequila Harry's at College and Quivira.

Its the original Garrozos. Old man Garrozo opened this one up before the kid opened all the Garrozo locations.

Best greasy spoon = The City Diner or The Lunch Box
Best Italian (that hasn't been mentioned) = Anthony's and / or Cupini's
Best Mexican = Taco Republic
