My comments were not meant to tell anyone either how they should spend their time or how they should spend their money. Rather, both the information I shared and the intent in so doing were, like the Trivago app, for the purposes of providing some insight into how one might have the same experience at a better rate.
So, in an analogous situation, if you want to pay $1400 a night for a standard room at the Hotel Ritz Paris because it is worth it to you, by all means do - they will happily accept your payment. I am merely suggesting that, while some are happy to pay the rack rate plus, it is possible to have the same Ritz room, and the same experience, at $700 or half the rack rate.
