As Toby Keith said, "I do not know why we are dropping smart bombs on these dumb son of a bitches". This war has been too civilized. It would have been over a long time ago if we had bombed it like we did in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.

the operative word I used was "ignore" versus your intention relating to "re-post"....

and since we now have the "jingoistic" insinuation - I will add my personal thoughts since I am definitely a true Patriot by that definition.

After 30 years Active Duty and three SEA tours I found I always agreed with the thoughts of many of my comrades which was quite simply "kill'em all and let God sort'em out..." and if the body bags continued to "wiggle" - you didn't have it zipped-up all the way.

I would have served under a man like Colonel West anyplace and anytime. Originally Posted by dennisrn

I respectfully disagree with you. We'd be not better than the animals we fight if we only stay true to who we are (rule of law and all that). We cannot trot out how much better democracy, rule of law etc., etc. is if we only pay lip service to it. Does it put us at a disadvantage, yes it does. But that's what happens when you take the moral high road'

I took that whole "Support and defend the Constitution" thing pretty serious.

Another historical example of fine muslim work in the recent past. In fact a certain Iraqi dictator's father and the uncle who raised him served in this unit. Later they were involved in the formation of the Baathist Party.

That's what I come here for, the pictures of Nazis.

So, I think Bolden showed poise last week, and, if Justin Brown and Derek Moye learn how to catch, its gonna be a great game.

Figure Penn State moves up to 5-7 in the AP with a decisive win and a good offensive showing over Alabama saturday.

I plan on watching the game with my new civie strange who looks like Julia Louis Dreyfus--she claims to love college football- we shall see, and with either PSU or Big Ten alumni. Celebrate a win with one of Rhoni's rusty trombones. Maybe the new strange working the slider--it dont hurt to ask.

That said, leaders have to make hard choices. I dont think West's decision was the hard choice and neither did the army. Not the kind of guy I would want to watch the PSU-Alabama game with.

Dennisrn, on the other hand with his politics 180++++ degrees from mine, seems to me would be great game company.

I've got to throw in with oldtiger here. This makes a nice story, but is only partially true. Remember, "if you repeat a lie often enough, it becomes truth".

".....Nice post. I happen to agree with Mr. Wests assessment. As a student of history it might also be noted that Vlad the Impaler of Romania (In popular culture Dracula) also stopped the muslims for same reasons. Or Charlemagne with his vassal Roland at the Pyrenees. Or perhaps even the Nazi's using muslim against muslim when through the Grand Mufti recruited over 40k muslim troops (oh by the way Saddam's father and uncle served in these units) in the Handschar SS Division part of which was sent to the Balkans to ethnic cleanse and put down fellow muslims whilst the bulk of the division was actively assisting elsewhere in implementation of the Final Solution....."
