Avoiding Death Threats - How to advice

GV = Google Voice.

Setup a separate gmail account for the hobby. Then get a GV number for that account. Never cross the two between hobby and real world gmail. Originally Posted by corona

GV is not easily traceable, especially for the average person. With your real number people can find you through social media, database leaks, payment apps, etc.. LE is never going to look for you unless you commit a serious crime against a sw or are a trafficker.

As far as I can tell, and being a GV user since almost the time it was rolled out, if you keep your conversations to arranging meetings and other non-explicit topics, Google won’t mess with you and LE has better things to do than to try to dig up dirt on the average hobbyist in hopes of making a solicitation arrest.

It’s certainly better than transacting business using your real phone number, even if you don’t/can’t have a separate hobby phone.

It's a numbers game for the fraudsters. They probably blast a bunch of numbers and dig into the ones that actually respond. Those that respond back will get the brunt of their attention. Best bet is to not respond to any phone you cannot trace back to a profile online.

The more you respond, the more apt they are to get in your head and make demands. Protect all your information with your life.
