Democrat Stephen Colbert's Late Show Gets Cancelled by CBS. NOW THAT'S FUNNY!

Younger viewers are switching their viewing habits from traditional late night television to more streaming content. Late night TV is switching from broadcast to a more on demand format.

This change in viewership means less commercial revenue for the broadcasters.

Late night programming won’t go away but it’s going to continue to become cheaper as time goes by. This is why Colbert was canceled.

However I wouldn’t put it past CBS to use this decision as a way to kiss Trump’s ass.

... Maybe CNN will hire-on Mr. Colbert next year as talent.
And the sorry bloke can tank their ratings further.

... CBS was right to cut their losses...

Trump is such a narcissistic asshole that CBS decided to kiss his ass by feeding him Colbert’s cancellation when they knew that they were going to cancel his show anyway.

Amazes me how forum Democrats offer up every excuse in the world for Colbert's cancellation other than unprofitability. And yet they pretend to understand free markets and laissez faire. Communist Democrats understanding laissez faire. Give me a break. Unbelievable. Jimmy Kimmel is probably next on the chopping block. What will Democrats say then? More conspiracy theories about Trump? Good grief.

Damn, MakeHerMoan!

These so called fiscal experts have the same MO with others peoples $$$$ Their comments certainly mirror their cheering on of leading this country into more debt to the tune of ~$8 trillion.

I think it is safer to let them think they won this round with the studio budget. Too bad they already ruined the pocket books of this country instead.

Who says MAGA has a lock on conspiracy theories? The original reporting that Colbert’s losing $40 million a year came from the WSJ news (not editorial) section. That’s the same outfit that Trump’s suing for $10 billion. The television media segment of Paramount Global, which includes CBS, lost $6.19 billion last year. Strip out nonrecurring items like write off of goodwill and it made 1.04 billion. $40 million is about 4% of $1.04 billion, not 0.0005%.

The board and management have a fiduciary duty to do what’s best for the shareholders and other stakeholders, not the Democratic Party. If they don’t, they should be voted out and replaced. Getting rid of a program that’s losing $40 million a year is a no brainer.

Although I don’t believe one thing has to do with the other I do believe the timing of the cancellation is completely relevant. They could have announced the cancellation much closer to the end of the year and avoided this situation entirely. Unless the point is to kiss Trump’s ass and to reflect positively with the administration that regulates your business.

Tiny, i did't get that figure from their general statement.\
Good to see you show that you can do the legwork. But I wanted the maggies to.
So, let me give them a hint. One could say, future allowances.
