Whoa, that's much to harsh. They had to fly anyway and I'm sure they put in their 8 hours a day. Nothing wrong with a little cuervo and some pussy at night. You don't need a laptop or a cell phone in Columbia, prostitution is legal and Americans are the honey to the bees, they find you. Are you sure you want to be a provider?

Every Jan - April most accountants bitch about their hours like there is no tomorrow. They cry "poor me I work 20 hours a day during tax season". Well, my answer to them is always the same "did it JUST occurred to you that you may be super busy during tax season or did you have some inkling of it while you were still in school?"
Point is, we all CHOOSE the professions we have and as we make those choices we agree to accept certain hardships/ responsibility in exchange for social and / or monetary compensation.
If you choose to be part of Secret Service, you have to accept the fact that you may be held to a higher standard of accountability. Any indiscretion you commit will be subject to much higher scrutiny than if you were a computer company executive.
Like i said before, is it FAIR? Most likely not. I am a professional companion. Working in this field has been my choice. However, I fully comprehend that due to my choices I will never run for public office or apply for government job. This is a choice I have made and i have to live with the consequences.
Same goes for these agents. they have made a choice to serve their country. It means they assumed a responsibility not to fund their personal entertainment with our money, they decided to dedicate their lives to safety of our country and not make US of A laughing stock of entire world.
As we said in the old country, you can't catch a fish and keep your dick dry. Sooner or later you have to get into the water. These guys threw away their careers and turned somewhat important international summit into "the year when Secret Service agents got kicked out of the country for not paying a hooker" event.
Yes, they had to fly anyway. Yet, I would prefer that people whose salary is paid by me fly to Colombia on their own dime. I would also prefer that their room where they get laid is paid for by them and not me. And no, when you are sent to Latin America to arrange the President's security, there is no such thing as 8 hour day. This would not turn into such a circus if title of the article read "12 secret service agents went on VACATION to Columbia". No, they were there on somewhat important mission and every minute of their time there is paid for by taxpayers.
As for my comments about laptop etc - I was being sarcastic.
Like I said, at some point in life a person has to make a choice and be accountable for their actions.
My sentiments about this incident have nothing to do with my job, they are sentiments of american citizen that is embarrassed by actions of few.
