Mars Rover Curiosity To Land By August

But anyway!

Let's get this thread back on track.

Curiosity is much larger and heaver than its predecessors and has an entirely new method of entering the Mars atmosphere.

It will use a "Sky Crane" to slow its decent onto the red planet.

. . . How cool is that?

I like space exploration. I just wish we did not have to borrow money to do it.
I own a telescope, funny thing for a blind man to own but I once could see pretty damn good.
the wonders of the expanse of the universe and everything in it is fascinating.
My first telescope was stolen, a refactor. Now I have a reflector.

Oh, I am finally no longer in the COngressWOMAN's district!! Happy days. She is a true REPRESENTATIVE of the people that elect her.

Remember when our astronauts left some fake dog poo on the moon just to fuck with the Russians? Originally Posted by TheDaliLama

Supposedly, the final landing minutes will be "7 minutes of terror" according to this story.

I suppose that is when mission control will be biting their nails and hoping nothing goes goes wrong.

. . . I wonder if it's anything like undressing a new girl and you're going in for the final approach hoping that nothing aborts the mission!
