I would hope that anyone trying to hide this life from family/friends would have a different phone number for them. There's no reason your mother should know the phone number you advertise.

Sometimes people write their number or email like this to keep internet spiders from stealing it and putting them on spam lists or other annoying things. I have a buddy who runs a couple shady internet companies who does stuff like that and he uses a graphic of his info on all his websites to keep that from happening.
