Unlike you, Doove, I expected Obama to be better than the rest. Originally Posted by CuteOldGuy

Even separate from the point i made, this shouldn't even be about Obama at all. If the Secret Service requests additional manpower from the locals, the Secret Service should be who pays for it.

So Obama behaves like every other politician we've ever had. This is a reason to vote for him?
Nope. But it's not a reason to not vote for him. Unlike what you intended by bringing this to our attention.

If we expect no difference from who we vote for, then why do we argue about who to vote for? It doesn't really matter then, does it?

Read your original post again, and then tell me what that has to do with expecting Obama to be different than all the rest.

You're flailing again.

You really don't get it, do you, Doove?

When you posted this, you obviously thought Obama was the only one who handled the issue this way. (D-Day anyone?) And when you found out it was standard practice, rather than proceeding to direct your outrage at everyone else for doing the same thing (and i do mean EVERYONE ELSE), you instead figured out how to continue to direct your outrage at Obama by coming up with the "i expected him to be better" canard.

Not that anyone should be surprised by that.

You're the one who said we shouldn't expect any better, not me. I thought we should.

If he didn't, he should. Did you not read what I said about Romney and Gary Johnson? The same would go for Ron Paul. If they are in town fundraising, the taxpayers shouldn't have to foot the bill for extra expenses incurred just because they are there.

Post a link where Romney, Johnson or Paul went to a town for fundraising purposes, caused the town to incur extra expenses as a result of that fundraiser, and I will say the same thing. I haven't seen any reports to that effect. If you have, let me know. I'll say the same thing, and also call them hypocritical for saying they are for the working class, if they won't pony up some of the funds they raised to keep the town even.

Dammit, Doove. You are dense.

So now you're trying to rely on the distinction between a campaign appearance and a campaign fundraiser.

What's that you sometimes say? About not being able to make this shit up?

You try way too hard, COG. You're not even a challenge.

I made that distinction long ago. You need to pay attention. But whatever, Doove.

Interesting. Given COG's bringing the original post to the attention of us all, i can't believe (yes i can) he hasn't taken it upon himself to bring this to our attention.

"TAMPA, Fla. -- During these past four days at the RNC convention, janitors have worked around the clock picking up after delegates, conservative stars like Ann Coulter and Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.), and the thousands of reporters in cavernous filing rooms. And many are doing so making less than minimum wage."
