The Police may have appeared to over react, but I wouldn't say they did. We really don't know what kind of exagerated info they recieved. This kid stated he had been exposed to firearms since he was five. I bet his father taught him well and he probably has a better understanding of gun saftey than most adults. I think that Ted Cruz got it right when he eviscerated Diane Feinstein in committee. He asked her how she could ban 150 guns which were functionally the same as hunting rifles. He asked her if she would do the same thing to the first amemdment. Would she ban free speech for only a few people based on some formula. Would she deny protections from warrantless searches for only a few. Would she make the case that some people don't get any constitutional protections. She had no answer other than to say that she had been around a long time.
