According to the CA Supreme court decision California vs. Freeman, it is legal to create porn in the state of California. No other state has had that right challenged. So, while it isn't explicitly legal to produce porn elsewhere, it also is not something most states will want to challenge (what with the Miller test of community standards and the rise of Internet pron).
