There were a couple of alleged Legionnaire's Disease cases a ways back. Maybe the Purell is in response to that?

The seas would have to be really rough. The only time I have ever experience this type of atmosphere is when I went on a casino cruise on Sterling Casinos. It was a 5 story boat and about 1/5 the size of a normal cruise ship. I have been on several large ones...Carnival and Royal Caribbean and never had this issue. Went through some sizable storms and barely knew it. You will be just fine.
