I am not particularly a football fan. Not anti-FB, just not something I follow with great intensity.--Trump and kneeling have had no real effect one way or the other--the adjusted numbers have actually gone UP a little since that stuff started
But a senior partner in one of the very big Ad agencies sent me an item last night that seems rlevent:
--week #1 of the NFL season, the weighted ave of "viewers that the Ad community's big customers cares about" was down 11% from last season
--week #6: it was down 6% from last season
Their take (and these guys are very politics neutral):
--NFL attendance is down a statistically significant amount from last season
--Trump and kneeling have had no real effect one way or the other--the adjusted numbers have actually gone UP a little since that stuff started
--They believe the bigger mid-term (next 5 years) issue is the shorter attention span that is making NFL games less appealing to the teen age fan base (they have a measure based largely upon early game people watching vs end of game people watching)
--And long term (10 year), soccer. Not that soccer on TV is likely to be huge, but kids growing up playing soccer instead of football likely means less dedicated FB viewers. Originally Posted by Old-T
