Actually, female pants and dresses are usually labeled the same way. (And both clothing styles may be admirably accommodating, depending on the fabric and cut.) If looking for, say, a size 12 on the dress rack, a lady would go look for the same size in jeans, maybe a size larger in hip-huggers, and buy petite, average, or long length depending on her height. (End seam measurements are left to male trousers.) BRA size is the only one that is dead set on circumference, like 44C in my case.

Also, most ladies who have those lovely hourglass figures you fellows lust over are not wearing the same size top and bottom. A gal with a size 8 blouse may find herself in size 10 slacks if she has anything other than a flat butt.

Adult female clothing sizes don't always accurately reflect a woman's shape, especially if she is extra tall or short or has bustylicious boobiage or a kapow-wow booty.
