Other Hobby Sites

Im in the same boat as many of you. This site is much better than ASPD was in the last year at least. And I cant keep up with two sites. This is home for me. I wish them luck............

I can understand those that have personal issues with the current ERAPS administration not wanting to be associated with the site, but all you other guys who bitch about "I'm concerned about these people having my PMs, personal information, etc.", I have a few questions for you:

Did you know Amber? I don't mean if you had met her, I mean did you KNOW her?
Did you know each and every individual who had access to your personal information on ASPD?
Do you know the people who own this site?
Do you know each and every individual who has access to your personal information on ECCIE?

I bet the answer to that is no for 90% of you. If that is the case, then what is the basis for you "trusting" one site over the other?

The fact of the matter is, you should always view EVERY piece of information you share through this or any whore board as if it will end up in the wrong hands. If you put so much trust in the management of ASPD, ERAPS or ECCIE that you allowed them to have information that could put you in a compromising position, and you thought they would or will hold it safe, you're an idiot.

I am not implying that any mod, administrator or owner of this site is untrustworthy. Indeed, I've shared drinks and dames with a number of them, and believe them to be honorable men. But I don't trust the "safety" of this database any more than I trusted ASPD or ERAPS...nor do I trust it less.

ERAPS will succeed or fail based on its own merits. I'm among those that likes the fact that the history I built on ASPD survives. If they don't find a reason to exist beyond that, however, then it will go away despite having that legacy. If it thrives, then we will all be better for it since more outlets for information are better than fewer.

Remember, if someone hadn't the foresight to start ECCIE when they did, we would have all been in the dark when ASPD expired. If for some reason the same thing happens to ECCIE, you'll be wishing ERAPS or some site like it will be around to pick up the slack.

This is just my opinion, but I think this all boils down to principles. If I remember correctly, the database belonged to Amber which now means it belongs to her estate. It all comes down to who is the rightful owner of the database NOW. If people are worried about PM's and personal info, that is their perrogative. I personally don't care too much about that any longer but it is a valid concern. I had them guest my account. They were actually very helpful doing so and quick to respond. But How quick do you think they will be about it if 20 thousand people all requested it?

Everyone has their own unique concerns. Trying to marginalize someone elses concerns because you don't personally see them as valid does not make your opinion better than others. If it means something to just one person it is just as legitimate as if it were important to ten thousand people.

Regardless of who legally owns the database, those that have "possession" of it are doing the right thing by acceding to your wishes.

And I doubt 20,000 people even care one way or another, so getting action on such a request within a reasonable period of time should not be a problem.

I just find it bizarre and think that what has been done is misleading as well as plagiarism. I am going to try to do anything about it ... Nope. But it doesn't mean I can't express an opinion.

So to reiterate, I didn't join that Board. Yet they provide info as if I had and apparently from the volume of post and reviews I am quite active. Put it plainly ... it is a false front.

No misplaced concerns ... just expressing my thoughts.

That said, if I had had concerns about my original posts, they would never have appeared on ASPD, this Board or ERAPS to begin with.

I just can't keep up with all the other boards.. Which one do I focus more energy on? Where do I post? Are the same members here as there are there? ECCIE? TER? eRAPS? P411? EscortPhotos/Boards? Horndogs? Fairplay? CityVibe? Midnight Live? ASPD ((again))? There are so many...
I like it here.. Seems like less drama.. ((still too much))... My 'home' is here...

However, a short time later when eRAPS.net also went down for a short period I couldn't help but have a similar thought to what GneissGuy expressed.

Hopefully, it was just a coincidence, but maybe we should take a look at this us vs. them mentality and examine who is who?
ASPD was forced to close because someone wanted it closed and made it happen by outing those in charge of it publicly and to their employers. Nobody knows, or really seems to care, who might have done that.
Ownership here, we would hope, isn't vulnerable to the same threat. I know eRAPS isn't. We don't know who took ASPD down, but we do realize they're still out there, don't we?

Right about this time last year, this site was about a week away from opening, in large part because ASPD had been down nearly a month after an attack from hackers. We don't know who was behind that, but we do realize they're still out there, don't we?

After that social was raided by Houston Vice a little less than 3 months ago, one vice cop said in an interview that they had been preparing for it for about 3 months by registering handles and "infiltrating" the community to establish themselves. Maybe he was just engaging in a little propaganda. Maybe they are no longer interested in attending hobby socials. Maybe they're the only LE department that would be interested in doing that. It's not like this is an election year or anything. Oh wait, it is. Well, the politicians are bound to find another easy target to pick on one of these days.

There's probably nothing for any of us to worry about. We're all way too intelligent and informed to concern ourselves with such trivialities and remote possibilities. We can certainly afford to ignore such threats and pontificate on why our table in the lunchroom is really the one where all the cool kids sit.

The us vs. them mentality is important. The us vs. them discussions are just about the most important conversations we have amongst ourselves.
However, losing sight of the fact that we're all actually on the same team doesn't really help us. It makes it easier for them to do things to us that we supposedly gathered together to try and keep them from doing to us.
If it makes it easier for some of you, try to remember that the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Why do I feel like I have just been berated and talked down to? Did Angel type that?

I loved ASPD, and eraps seems like it would be a decent reference tool. I like that the history has been saved. However, I have a new ATF. Yeah, maybe I am attracted because it is shiny and new full of all kinds of useful bells and whistles.

Yep, me too, was getting a lap dance when it came and the Blackberry buzzed right when she was grinding on my thigh.

Beyond the giggle, I figure why bother--this place is home. Originally Posted by ANONONE

I think what I am most surprised (maybe shocked about) is that the site has all my aspd reviews, all my aspd pm's and a number of my posts.

I don't know if it will change over there or not. But, I like not having nude photos on the access pages.

It allows me to open the site without worrying about someone walking up to my computer.

I have to be more cautious here..........but, that doesn't stop me from enjoying all of it.
