It wasn't meant to be "affordable" for the ones for whom it was designed, because those folks were getting "free stuff" either directly or indirectly (with subsidies) all paid by the taxpayers. Remember the 30 to 50 million who were "uninsured"?

A problem was you had folks who for most of their lives were on the government tit (employed by some government) and they don't have a clue about running a business, making a profit, and/or creating employment....WITHOUT TAXPAYERS' SUBSIDIES.
