You can't truly judge a BBQ location until it has been open at least 5 years. The "pit" takes at least that long to season. And the older it gets the better it gets.

I love LCs, Bryants, Gates. Hate that place called Daves.

Just got back from the Carolinas and had some of that damn mustard based sauce. Horrid stuff, still burping it and farting it out 5 days later.

Oklahoma Joe's - special place in my stomach
Rosedale - grew up on the stuff, still eat there at least once a week
Johnny's - best turkey in the world (and I don't even like turkey)
Zarda's - have killer dry rub ribs (might have to ask for it)
Bryant's - only the one on Brooklyn (speedway location is waaaay to clean for me)
Gate's - just because they're open til 1 am.

Growler and BigMike beat me to it!! Gotta LOVE LC's it's the best in the city! And gotta love knowing half the hood(I'm gettin ribs out the backdoor). And as far as Gates....they can't even get a cup of Strawberry Fanta right. I hate Gates. The sauce is disgusting. And as for the service, I've come to expect shitty service living in the hood. They actually use that as an excuse! Why is your service so shitty? Cuz you in da hood!! LMAO go to the suburbs if you want Excellent Customer Service.

L.C.'s closed by the Health Department . . . I assume when they get rid of the rats flavoring the food with their droppings they will re-open . . .

Some of you may remember Ricky's Pit BBQ in KCK on Leavenworth Road. Ricky had a little trouble with the IRS and lost his joint several years ago. He's back in an old converted gas station right off I-635 and Leavenworth Road. Nothing fancy, but damn good Q.

He serves traditional southern soulfood on Sunday's. Stop by and they treat you like family.

I pass by on my way to work and have noticed an open sign and cars outside at 7:30 am. I haven't tried it yet, but only in KC could you get a short end for breakfast!

Authur Bryant's & Rosedales are my two favorites K&M in Spring Hill is a close third. Haywards has the best sauce K&M's Sweet Heat is also a very good sauce.

I must admit that I do smoke a nice slap of ribs.
