All of my showcase images were taken by an "amateur" photographer. She was working on her skills that she was actively learning in school. What did she charge me for her time and efforts? 0. Because she was trying to learn skills.
There are some pro photogs here, both male and female, that I wouldn't use. Their work is poor and not worth the $400-$800 that they charge.
If I am going to pay for a photo shoot, I expect to see a portfolio of work before I plunk any money down on a shoot.
