Whales, Spinners & Mucho Dollars City

These offensive and unnecssary threads would die from immediate suffication if some folks whose nerves got a dose of poison would simply ignore the initial posting. By addressing it you really give it more notoriety than it deserves and it doesn't get buried beneath more positive and constructive, if not insightful threads.

If the skinny and emaciated ladies on here aren't going to jump all over this joker from the get go then it doesn't mean a lot for the regular ladies who are BBW and loving it to jump on his case.

You are just pouring gasoline on the match he struck.

This is actually a legitimate question, although I fail to see why the OP had to ask it in such an insinuatingly insulting fashion which GUARANTEED drama. Can we not discuss REAL topics without getting into the waistline issue? It obscures the relevance of actual facts.

OFS, the "mucho dollars" ivan's referring to might have to do with the current state of the oil industry and subsequent condition of Houston's more motile economy in regard to the rest of the nation, our more reasonable and less-devalued real estate market, and the hopeful
continued influx of oil-related money through technology and jobs, all of which bear on our ability to recover quicker and more fully from the recession/depression than other cities. He therefore may be talking about the amount of disposable over discretionary income that H-Town has had, still has, or will have. Or he may be talking the rise of illegal substance lords, for all I know, or pimps bringing in cheap hoochie coochie girls via underground tunnels or parachuted from low-flying planes.

Extrapolating from current stats, Houston hobbyists will see more Hispanics in the profession, as will every industry in the entire country. (No secret there.) More escorts of all ages and races will enter the biz, and by sheer volume, there will be more scams, more bad stories for the news media to capitalize on. When I started 5 years ago, there really weren't that many ladies over 40 advertising, but more ex-escorts have either returned to the biz due to economics or have decided to take it up for extra money, possibly because they lost other jobs, and that will continue. Personal taste aside, there will be more BBW's, as I have to agree with Wakeup (just strangle me, somebody, please) in that the American public poundage is increasing. (Btw, it's WAY cheaper to eat fattening than to eat healthy, so socio-economics plays a role there, as well as the relationship of stress and rise in all types of addictions in difficult times, but let's not argue cause and effect on physical size in this thread when it's not necessary to the actual predictions.)

More competition by ALL ethnic groups, ages, sizes, and even sexes (more gay, bi, TS or TV) may cause a dip in rates on some levels, but since you get from you pay for, that isn't a good thing, and may drive more reputable providers to leave or find other professions with more solidarity.

How's that for analysis? I basically expounded on what Kinklover said in the second post of this thread, but made it sound more impressive. Doesn't mean I know a damn thing, just like the rest of us who say stuff that sounds good to ourselves based on our perceptions but may just be pure bulltwinkie.

A box of 8 twinkies weighs just under a pound and will cost about $5.00 at least.

Right now I can buy 5 pounds ... FIVE ... of chicken breasts for $5.00.

And I can buy 5 ... FIVE ... cantelopes for $5.00.

And 5 dozen egss for $5.00.

About 4 pounds of frozen broccoli forets for about $5.00.

The list is practically endless.

The point is ... "mix and match" .... you don't have to buy 5 dozen ..

... but $1 a doz~! ...or 1 and 1/2 twinkies!

And here is a novel idea .... reducing portion sizes ... reduces costs!

That is not what this thread is about ... but when someone starts making "excuses" for obesity ....

.... like it costs more to eat less???????

sounds more and more like ... errr.... politics ....

... let's reduce spending by spending more ......

You can buy a heck of a lot of that add-water-to-expand food for $5 and make it last and drop in a little bit of that 5 lbs of chicken and 4 lbs of broccoli, whereas how far will 4 pounds of just frozen veggies or raw chicken go once cooked up, and how filling is it in comparison? Nutrition plays second fiddle to expense for many kids, sadly, and adults tend to continue the eating patterns they were raised with. (I don't know where you're buying Twinkies, but the 10-pack box at Wal*Mart is $3.49, in case you're craving them.)

"how filling " ............ chicken and broccoli are not "FILLING" they are NUTRITIONAL.

I am not going to psychoanalyze why "economically challenged" people buy ....

... comfort food and starchy food .... or even "lazy-cook" short-cuts that contain excessive amounts of salt, if not sugar ..... but I have spent a good part of my "shopping life" (which is extensive BTW) standing BEHIND a customer with a grocery basket stacked high with "comfort and starchy food " ... who (once paid with paper/coupons) pay with a swipe card and I could fill the basket half full and get more meals for the buck that would be healthier for them and their chldren.

First .. it is education ... and it ought to start no later than the 6th grade. It used to. And last ... it is education. Informing people about nutrition and teaching them how to prepare healthy and FILLING meals .... because they will eventually have less to FILL!

I don't think you have a realistic view, especially if you don't know how many people that cart full of "comfort and starchy food" you were standing behind was feeding, but let us agree to disagree there.

I do agree with you on the education aspect, but think it should start at Kindergarten. Most of our school cafeterias have and still are feeding the problem instead of encouraging healthier habits, and personally, I think parents ought to be given a nutritional cookbook with the birth certificate for their child at the hospital.

Gosh knows my grandparents (who raised me) didn't have a clue. Gram was an Irish woman stuck on potatoes who had spent too much time in the Deep South. Her secret ingredient in most recipes was bacon grease. (Instead of falling I think I was SLIDING out of bed as a kid.)

The OP asked a simple question about our predictions for hooker-futures in Houston... and you people go off on tangents about fatties and the cost of food.

Fancy, evidently these guys don't know about being raised poor. They probably had it made from birth. My mom and dad both worked when I was little and we never went without, and we were thankful for that. Its easy to speak when you are sitting on a high horse! I know that real soon I need to make a change for the sake of my future health, and its MY problem to deal with. Calling us whales is just nasty. Hell, call us bitches, hos, hooktards, BBW, curvy, voluptuous! But to call us a 5000 pound sea mammal is just stupid. Being raised and being happy with what we had looking back now, my parents taught us mannors! They taught us respect! I was taught to always do good work, and to never steal. And to appreciate what I have!
